Last bolides |
This site contains images and information about some of the brightest bolides recorded by the observing stations operated by the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network (SWEMN) in the framework of the SMART Project. A good number of these events can be also seen on this YouTube channel. Most of these YouTube videos also show the trajectory in the atmosphere of these fireballs and the orbit of their parent meteoroids. Due to the large number of events recorded (the Southwestern Europe Meteor Network operates over 100 cameras from 17 meteor-observing stations that provide full coverage of the sky over the Iberian Peninsula), only a small fraction of the bolides detected by these systems are included here. If you wish to obtain information about a particular event, you may contac Doctor José María Madiedo. Despite these meteor-observing stations are in operation since 2006, the list on this website includes only those events recorded from 2009. If you wish to send us information about a particular fireball you have witnessed, you may use this online form. Detection times below are given in Universal Time (U.T.). |
